I predict that one team will win, one team will lose, and we'll repeat the whole process again next year, probably with two different teams. So, in all, a monumental waste of time and energy. Enjoy!

by AudeSapere indoes the image below show up for everyone?
it's a cut-and-paste of an ad for classmates.com.. what caught my eye is that the books they have in their ad are actually jw yearbooks!!
odd, isn't it?.

that's hysterical! They've cabbaged an image that is absolutely not what they think it is! Someone should do them a solid and forward it to the Borg so they can issue a cease and desist order.

Question about buying a new car.
by MrFreeze inokay, so i've been without a working car since november and it will cost thousands to get it up to snuff.
fortunately, i am able to walk to work.
getting a new car isn't really a necessity but more of a luxury.

Whether you finance through a bank or through the dealership, most of the time you are going to need a cash downpayment or a trade in worth roughly 10% to 15% of the cash price of the deal (including tax & license). The reason for that is the car depreciates the minute you drive it off the lot, and the financing entity doesn't want you to owe more on the car than it is worth. You may find a car that has a rebate offer that will cover your downpayment, or if your credit is really good you may not have to have as much of a downpayment. Good luck car hunting!

My mother has never been a JW. From the minute I was born, she started teaching me to be self reliant and to make sure that I could provide for myself. I could see for myself how hard life was for a person who didn't have much education, but also how much harder it would have been had she not been resourceful and willing to try to do things for herself.

Should i go?
by MsGrowingGirl20 inso, a good friend of mine, a pentecostal christian, invited me to go to a retreat with her church.
we're the same age-19 years.
we were friends before i became a witness and she was always patient and caring with me especially throughout my arrogant spell as a witness.

go if you want, although I find the Pentecostal Christians to be almost as restrictive and pushy as the dubs.

Birthdays & Christmas
by Rattigan350 inwhat is the deal with people criticizing jws because they don't celebrate birthdays or christmas?.
it is as if when someone is born, from a baby, to a child, teen, adult; that one has a responsiblity to celebrate christmas (and i thought it was a free country); and others have a responsiblity to celebrate others' anniversary of one's birth.. i don't get the criticisms as if celebrating either is a great thing and the not celebrating is a bad thing.. data on star trek said that he does not understand why people celebrate their birthdays - a day one can not possibly remember.. what are you actually celebrating?
the fact that you made it another year?

Well why bother doing anything? You are just going to die eventually anyway. It's all pointless and futile in the long run.
*OR* you can decide to enjoy yourself while you are here, and try to make life enjoyable for the people around you as well. Even if it's ultimately pointless, you might as well enjoy it.

At what age do you think people should start dating? What age did you start?
by MsGrowingGirl20 inhey guys!
i hope that everyone is still holding on amidst all the struggles.. i know that there are parents, older ones, middle age and younger ones here.. sooo, my question isss- what age did you start dating and what age do you truly believe people should start dating?
and why?.

I started dating when I was 12 or 13. I didn't discuss it with my mom because I knew she wouldn't approve. I don't think there is any way to prevent kids from forming attachments with other kids, so forbidding dating is not particularly helpful.

Welcome! I have young sons, and when we were in the borg I used to think about what would happen if one (or more) of them were gay. I couldn't stand the thought of having to shun my kid. I don't have any additional advice, but I do wish you good luck and happiness.
